Crater lake

Miles travelled - 254

Got up and got Boris organised, had showers and set off at 9.30ish. Stopped in the redwoods which were as huge as you would imagine - also drove past a huge herd of elk in someone's front garden! Stopped midway to do a big shop at a supermarket and ate lunch as we took turns driving. Ran into traffic backed up that must have stretched about 8 miles due to a crash - and we were sitting and waiting to move for an hour. This unfortunately ate into our time to go to Toketee falls - so perhaps in the morning. Had an American couple come and chat and suss out our RV while we were waiting!

On the road again for a more straight shot to crater lake. Had to fill up again - 3rd time in 2 days!!! And about $100 each time! Did not expect we would be guzzling quite that much fuel! Got to crater lake about 6.30pm - sun still high in the sky and checked into our campsite and then drove up the road to get a glimpse. So beautiful and expansive. Beck I hope you are jealous! Watched the sun set and cast different hues across the landscape before driving back and settling in. Made our first dinner - pasta, nice and easy and very yummy! Turned in quite early as hoping to get a hike in before we set off in the morning.
